Goals:
The series' goals are to impact project work by improving the understanding of data computing across the R and R Studio platforms, and extend knowledge of the packages largely contributing to data visualization capabilites, how they grow and are used.


Expectations: 
This is the second workshop within a series meant only as an introduction to the R and R studio environment. Learning a new programming language, like a spoken language, takes years of practice, so it will not be possible to cover everything but many common features that most of you will use most of the time will be highlighted.

Expertise: Web mapping applications, spatial data analysis, map design, GIS software (ArcGIS and QGIS), R and Adobe products (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro).  Jennifer Latessa is a PhD student in Regional Development Planning from the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning?.  She fulfilled her GIS certificate requirements in 2016.  Full of passion for GIS and helping others with their spatial research, currently, her main job is to help patrons gather data, do spatial analysis (e.g. network analysis, spatial join) and design maps (e.g. projections). Additionally, she develops workshops according to the UC community's needs in learning GIS techniques, such as Introduction to QGIS.
