Getting Started With Stellarium (Workshop - Main Campus Libraries) #111235

Import to your Calendar

Stellarium is a powerful open-source planetarium application freely available for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux operating systems. The software is commonly used to learn about the night sky, plan astronomical observing sessions, identify planets or celestial objects of interest, and much more. In this workshop we will provide a basic over of Stellarium. Participants will learn some basic astronomical concepts as well as how to setup the software and explore its features to change an observer’s location, date and time, identify constellations and stars, find planets and galaxies, and search for and select celestial objects.

Please bring your own laptop to the workshop. Participants are encouraged to install the latest version Stellarium (v 1.0) before arriving. See http://stellarium.org/ for download links and minimum and recommended system requirements.
