*Note: This workshop is offered for Great Gateways faculty only. For questions about Great Gateways, email CET&L at cetl@uc.edu. In this interactive virtual workshop, Great Gateways faculty will explore simple ways to support our students to help them be successful. Students come to class with competing priorities and a variety of experiences, which can create challenges for many in their early college years. The facilitators will share research, strategies, and guide conversation about executive functioning and academic habit skills. Participants will begin to think about how to incorporate these strategies in small moments in their classes, which encourage students to develop productive habits and continue to grow their college success skills on their own. Participants will have an opportunity at the end of the workshop to begin planning how they will integrate these course resources and/or strategies with peer feedback.
Learning outcomes
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to…
- Identify the value and expectations of their course and find ways to explicitly share these with students
- Define and discuss ways to practice executive functioning skills and academic habits within and outside of class time
- Identify one or more ways to integrate course resources and/or strategies that support students’ executive functioning skills and academic habits
