As instructors prepare for the upcoming fall semester, it is now important to include a policy about AI use in one's syllabus. This language should clearly identify the instructor's expectations concerning whether or not AI use is acceptable in the course.
In this meeting, we will discuss different types of policies an instructor might implement. In particular, we will consider syllabus policies for three different approaches to AI use:
- students are forbidden from using AI;
- students are permitted, but not required, to use AI; and
- students will be required to use AI for some assignments.
Please join us for what will hopefully be a helpful discussion about writing AI syllabus policies and setting expectations for AI use in one's class!
