The rapid advancement and introduction of new processing technologies for computing have facilitated the convergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), Data Analytics and Big Data and the High-Performance Computing (HPC) platforms into a ‘modern HPC’ environment which includes batch, interactive and web-based computing tools to meet a diverse community of researcher’s needs.
In this introduction to the HPC tools available in UC’s Advanced Research Computing (ARC) center, users will get hands on experience submitting a batch job with SLURM, running a job that uses containers, and, if time allows, scheduling and executing a job that uses the cluster GPU nodes. No prior experience with Linux is required; both command-line and web-based interfaces for accessing the HPC cluster will be covered.
