This workshop reimagines “engagement” in light of post-pandemic changes in student learning and the emergence of generative AI. Anson will first summarize two recent studies on engagement and writing, then participants will focus on an assignment or activity from their own classes, brainstorming ways to design for student engagement. A share and discussion session will follow, highlighting approaches appropriate for possible adaptation in courses across levels and disciplines.
Chris Anson is Distinguished University Professor and Strategic Advisor for the Campus Writing and Speaking Program at North Carolina State University, where he works with faculty across the disciplines to enhance instruction in written, spoken, and digital literacy. See more at www.ansonica.net.
